ᰔ Hi girlies! 💞 Summer Check-In + Vote on What You Want Next!
The newsletter for the girlies with college and career advice!

ᰔ ฅ՞•ﻌ•՞ฅ Hi girlies!
I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to go into autopilot during summer. But honestly? These next few months can change everything. There are scholarships open, paid fellowships dropping, and fly-in programs that literally pay for your college visit — but most students won’t even know they exist.
So if you’re reading this, take it as your sign to get back in the game. No pressure to do everything. But do something. Apply to one opportunity. Reach out to one person. Make one bold move.
And if you’ve been meaning to apply for just one opportunity… consider this your sign. New apps just dropped and most of them are free to do and open to students across the U.S.
Sending good vibes and a little push to take action (even if it’s just one thing today). You've got this 🌷

🎀 Quick poll! What do you want more of this summer?

Don’t snooze on student loans
June is the sweet spot to start planning how you’ll cover what FAFSA doesn’t.
You’ve got time to compare options, talk it over with a co-signer, and find a private loan that actually fits your life.
Think beyond tuition—the right student loan can cover housing, meal plans, and even your laptop.
View Money’s best student loans list to find a lender, apply in as little as 3 minutes, and start the semester on the right foot.
We posted this on ig
so I want to explain more about this ⊹♡🧸ྀི♡‧₊˚

Advice Column 💌
There’s a real disadvantage in the college application process—whether you see it or not. So much of the information is gatekept, scattered, or simply not shared unless you already know what to look for. Many students don’t have the time to dig through dozens of websites, and even fewer have the money to travel across the country just to visit a school they’re unsure about. That’s exactly why fly-in programs exist, and why more students deserve to know about them. Fly-in programs are free or fully funded campus visit experiences hosted by colleges and universities. They’re created especially for students who might not have the resources to visit campus on their own—particularly students of color, first-gen students, low-income applicants, or those from historically excluded backgrounds. If accepted, you literally “fly in,” stay on campus for a few days, and get to attend info sessions and classes, meet professors and students, sleep in the dorms, ask real questions about admissions and financial aid, and actually experience the school’s vibe without any pressure.
Most fly-in programs are for rising high school seniors, but what many don’t know is that fly-in–style programs also exist for college students who are considering grad school. These are often called Grad Preview Weekends, Diversity Visit Days, Research Open Houses, or Campus Preview Programs and they offer a similar experience for students applying to Master’s or PhD programs.
To qualify, you’re usually asked to submit a short application (some require a transcript or essay), and most prioritize students from underrepresented backgrounds, including DACA and undocumented students. PLUS, if you apply, you usually get an application fee waiver—whether or not you're accepted! Why apply? Because exposure changes everything. Many students never even consider top schools or competitive grad programs because they’ve never seen them as an option.
A fly-in program changes that. You get the chance to explore whether a school is a good fit, potentially receive more resources, connect with key faculty and admissions officers, and most importantly—see yourself there. And the best part? It’s completely free. Some programs even cover the cost for a parent or guardian to join you. If grad school is on your mind, stay tuned—we’re posting a full list of upcoming fly-in and preview programs for Master’s and PhD students very soon. And for high schoolers, check our pinned post for all the current fly-in programs open right now (sorted by deadline!) 💌🎀

We’re excited to share a special opportunity with our Girls on Campus community — in partnership with Indigo Research!
WHAT IS INDIGO RESEARCH?
Indigo connects high school students with professors from top universities to do real, publishable research. Unlike typical summer programs, their IRIS Program offers authentic academic work, not simulations.
One past student, Lilith from California, researched dreams in animals and published her work before college. She’s now at UCLA studying neuroscience!
WHY THIS MATTERS:
Colleges look closely at how students spend their summers. Research shows initiative, depth, and intellectual curiosity — all things admissions officers love.
ABOUT THE IRIS PROGRAM (JULY 7 – AUG 17):
🔬 Work with faculty from Harvard, Stanford, UPenn, Oxford & more
📚 Fields include: AI, Neuroscience, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and more
🧠 Fully online + meets twice a week
📝 End with a publishable research paper
