ᰔ Hi girlies! 💞 Summer is here!! let's have our hot girl summer.

The newsletter for the girlies with college and career advice!

ᰔ ฅ՞•ﻌ•՞ฅ Hi girlies!

Is it just me or is my skin glowing, my body feeling light, and my mind finally at ease?? Summer break is really doing what it needs to do 😌💆🏽‍♀️

I’ve been seeing so many TikToks of people starting their summer internships, and if that’s you-go off!! I hope you’re stepping into new spaces with confidence and learning so much. My internship doesn’t start until July 21, so I still have a bit of time to relax before I jump into full corporate girly mode 💼👠 I’ll be based in NYC this summer, so if you're around, let’s connect!

And don’t worry—Girls on Campus isn’t going anywhere!! I’ll still be running things, but I’m thinking of bringing on 1-2 people to help out behind the scenes so we can keep growing and sharing even more resources for students. If you're passionate about helping other girls succeed and want to be part of something meaningful, stay tuned 😉

What are your summer plans?? Whether you're interning, relaxing, traveling, or just figuring things out—I’m rooting for you 💖

Outsmart college costs

Ready for next semester? June is a key time to assess how you’ll cover college costs. And considering federal aid often isn’t enough, you might have to consider private student loans.

You’re just in time, though—most schools recommend applying about two months before tuition is due. By now, colleges start sending final cost-of-attendance letters, revealing how much you’ll need to bridge the gap.

Understanding your options now can help ensure you’re prepared and avoid last-minute stress. View Money’s best student loans list to find lenders with low rates and easy online application.

Advice Column 💌

Let’s be real. Most of us were never taught how to build self-worth. I wasn’t. As a first-gen, low-income Latina raised by a single mom, I grew up learning how to work hard, be polite, and stay grateful. But I was never really taught how to be proud of myself without guilt. I didn’t know how to take up space without feeling like I was being “too much.” Even now, when I share wins or updates on LinkedIn, I sometimes pause before posting. There’s this unspoken fear that showing pride in your growth means you're bragging. But that’s the mindset we need to unlearn. Sharing your journey is not bragging. It’s storytelling. It’s personal branding. And it’s necessary if you want to grow your network, your confidence, and your impact. If you don’t tell your story, who will? No one cares about your journey more than you do! Most people are too focused on their own.

Your self-concept, the way you see and carry yourself, affects every part of your life. You can’t build a dream life when deep down, you don’t believe you deserve it. I used to think I had to wait until I had everything figured out to show up with confidence. I thought once I had the perfect internship, the glowing resume, or enough people cheering me on, then I’d feel ready. But that feeling never came until I decided to create it for myself. The truth is, you don’t have to earn your worth. You already have it. The real shift happens when you stop waiting for proof and start acting like you are already her. That’s what personal branding really is. It’s not curating a fake image, it’s showing up consistently as the version of you who knows her value.

If you’re nervous about using LinkedIn or building your brand, remember this. You do not need to be perfect. You just need to be real. Talk about your experiences. Share what you’re learning. Reflect on your journey in your own voice. That is how people connect with you. That is how you stand out. You do not need a fancy title or polished post to make an impact. You just need the courage to start.

Here are five reminders that helped me step into that mindset and might help you too:

  1. Your confidence will make some people uncomfortable and that’s not your problem. Some people will say you’re too full of yourself. They will try to humble you when they see you shining. That is their own discomfort speaking. Do not shrink. Keep going.

  2. You don’t owe people the old version of you. If you’ve grown, healed, and evolved, don’t feel guilty for it. You don’t have to keep performing the struggling version of yourself just to make others feel better.

  3. Identity-based choices are powerful. Stop saying you hope it works out and start asking what the girl who already has it would do today. Would she apply anyway? Speak up in the meeting? Pitch herself? That is how you become her.

  4. You won’t always feel ready and that is okay. Confidence doesn’t mean you’re never scared. It means you do the thing even when your hands are shaking. That is where growth lives.

  5. If you wait for the world to validate you, you’ll be waiting forever. External validation feels good but it can’t be the foundation. Learn to clap for yourself first. Everything else is extra.

So whether you're just getting started or stepping into your next chapter, remember this. You don’t attract what you want. You attract what you believe. Choose to believe you are already worthy. Already enough. Already her. You don’t need to prove yourself to become her. You just need to stop apologizing for already being her.
