We are announcing our national essay competition on January 10th. This essay competition will award a $500 scholarship plus resources to help you with your college application. More info will be available in the next newsletter. It will be open to anyone, regardless of immigration status, who will be studying at a U.S. university.
We’ve also added two new sections to this newsletter: 'Low Competition Scholarships' and 'Extracurriculars for High School Students,' which include competitions, programs, and more.
Finally, are you a college student and want to be featured on our Instagram or TikTok? Please let us know how you are paying for your college education through this form.https://forms.gle/2ov4T4GCA8r6a6fMA

How to Stand Out in Any Application
If you want to stand out in a job, internship, scholarship, or even a cold email, try including a quick video. Keep it under a minute, where you introduce yourself and talk briefly about your experience. If you’re applying for a job or internship, you can summarize your resume and mention what you’re excited about. For scholarships, share your goals and how the scholarship will help you. This simple video shows your personality, enthusiasm, and communication skills, which can make a big difference in helping you get noticed.
I used this approach when reaching out to a recruiter for a coffee chat. I sent a short video introducing myself and explaining why I wanted to connect. The recruiter liked the personal touch and invited me to a Zoom coffee chat the next day. That led to an interview offer. A quick video can help you stand out from others who just send emails or applications.
I also saw how well this works when hiring for the Girls on Campus Bootcamp. One person sent a video, even though it wasn’t required, and it really stood out to me. It made her application memorable and showed that she put in extra effort. It’s a great way to make a personal connection, whether you’re applying for jobs, internships, scholarships, or even just reaching out in a cold email.
